The "Fallen Birds" CD (Stagg003) and "Little Fallen Birds" (Stagg004) limited edition 12" 180gram vinyl with gatefold cover are now both available through STAGGER RECORDS, due for official release on August 7th, 2007! This precious gem features DIMI DERO (of Dimi Dero INC & Youpi Youpi Yeah!) on percussion, LISA BAREL on piano, TEX NAPALM (of The Iron Cobra Orchestra) on guitar, DELPHINE ELLIS (of Delphine Thirteen & Youpi Youpi Yeah!) on baritone guitar, AMELIA S DEVA (of Electra Jean) on vocals, and EIVIND SCHOU (of Serena Maneesh) on cello! Also featured on additional tracks are musicians SUSAN MITCHELL on viola and DAG STIBERG (of My Midnight Creeps) on saxophone, as well as PIKER RYAN gangmembers CHRISTOPHER MELE on drums, PETER MELE on bass, and ERIC WOLTER on piano. In addition, there is a version of "Cigarettes" recorded in Oslo a few years ago with RAYMOND JENSEN (My Midnight Creeps), EIRIK BJARGHOV (ex-Vidar Vang) and KENNETH SIMONSEN (Shit City).
The artwork consists of work on a gatefold cover design with beautiful images by Norwegian photographic artist JANNE RUGLAND, French photgrapher MAHO, and a wonderful visual contribution by legendary Australian musician GENEVIEVE McGUCKIN, perhaps best known for her work with ROWLAND S. HOWARD and THESE IMMORTAL SOULS.
The Stagger Norway Tour 2007 was a success! The release party for Mark Steiner's "Fallen Birds" CD- Mini LP and "Little Fallen Birds" limited edition 180 gram vinyl EP took place at CAFÉ MONO in Oslo, Norway, on August 2nd, 2007, and featured live performances by MARK STEINER & THE FALLEN BIRDS, DIMI DERO INC, TEX NAPALM & ELECTRA JEAN, which kicked off their Norwegian tour from 1.-7. August, 2007.
MARK STEINER & THE FALLEN BIRDS performed at the ØYA FESTIVAL 2007, at the Eldorado Cinema in Oslo as part of the opening ceremonies of the festival.
MARK STEINER was interviewed by SWAMP LAND ZINE.
PIKER RYAN played a few gigs in New York this June, possibly for the last time ever under said name.
STAGGER RECORDS also released a tribute to ROWLAND S. HOWARD, legendary guitarist and singer/songwriter from THE BIRTHDAY PARTY, THESE IMMORTAL SOULS, and CRIME & THE CITY SOLUTION. Includes MARK STEINER'S interpretation of the track "Silver Chain."
CAFE MONO in Oslo, in celebration of their 5th anniversary last April, released a double CD aptly entitled "In Glorious Mono," which includes the funk-rock track "Reason," as performed by MARK STEINER & THE DEBAUCHERY. LIMITED NUMBER of COPIES STILL AVAILABLE!
Mark Steiner has opened for various musicians such as Young God Records artists MICHAEL GIRA (Swans, Angels of Light), DEVENDRA BANHART (US), and KID CONGO POWERS (Gun Club, Cramps, Bad Seeds, Knoxville Girls, et.al.), as well as Norwegian indie-rockers MADRUGADA, with whom Mark Steiner has been seen appearing with live on numerous occasions, such as at the 2005 by:Larm Music Convention in Stavanger, Norway, as well as at CBGB and Sin-e in NYC, and at both Rockefeller Music Hall and Garage Oslo in Norway's splendid capital city. He played the 2003 Iceland Airwaves Music Festival in Reykjavik, Iceland, as well as the 2004 Öya Music Festival and the 2004 Musikkfest Oslo festival...
